If you’re aged 18 years or older, you can bring in duty free:
- one unopen packet of up to 25 cigarettes (or the equivalent of 25 grams of tobacco products), and
- one open packet of cigarettes.
You can bring in up to 1.5 kilograms of smokeless tobacco (chewing tobacco or snuff) for personal use, but you will have to pay duty on any tobacco above 25 grams (only 25 grams is allowed duty free).
PenaltiesIf in doubt, always declare. Penalties may apply if goods are not declared.
ExamplesCigarettes, tobacco, cigars, chewing tobacco, snuff
ExceptionsIf you bring in more than your duty free allowance for tobacco and cigarettes, you’ll need to pay duty on all of your tobacco and cigarettes, not just on the excess.
You must have a permit to bring in more than 1.5 kilograms of chewing tobacco or snuff.
下面是官方回复关于税率的说明,我看不懂怎么算。假设我带10只罗布图,重量在100克,应该交多少税。
The allowance for cigars is 25 grams. If you exceed Australia’s duty free limits, duty and tax will apply on all items of that type (general goods, alcohol or tobacco), not just the goods over the limit.
Tobacco rates are as per the table below: TOBACCO PRODUCT
